M.S. Satsangi, former Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at Shushant School of Arts & Architecture, Gurgaon, and currently Principal Consulting Architect for Sharda Group of Institutions since 1999.
Prof. M. S Satsangi, B.Arch. (Hons) graduate of 1964 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, with 55 years of Professional and Academic experience, began his career at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
At N.I.D., he worked, both in India and abroad on the design and construction of several prestigious projects in association with world-renowned Architects. Air India Housing at Bombay with Chicago-based architect Mr. Harry Weese and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, with Prof. Louis Kahn of Philadelphia U.S.A and Architect B.V. Doshi of Ahmedabad. At N.I.D he gained experience and expertise through association with several Internationally known Designers, namely Mr. Charles Eames of the U.S.A for furniture and exhibition design, Mr. George Nakashima of Japan for furniture design, and Mr. Kumar H Vyas and Mr. Dashrath Patel for Product & Ceramic Design, Mr. Frei Otto of Germany for Lightweight Structure Design. His formal teaching career (1972 to 1977) was as an assistant professor at the School of Architecture, CEPT Ahmedabad.
From 1977 to 1985 he worked in Nigeria as Chief Architect and Associate of M/S Frank Mbanefo and Associates in Enugu, on several Institutional, Residential, and Industrial Projects.
Back in India in 1985, he taught at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and later at the Sushant School of Art & Architecture, Gurgaon from 1991 to 2000. From where he retired as Head of the Department of Architecture. He has conducted special workshops for students of architecture on form-finding processes and constructive geometries of lightweight structures including the construction of full-scale structures, like Grid Shells, Tensile Fabric Structures, Tensegrity Structures, Domes, etc. in several Schools of Architecture throughout India.
Post-retirement since 2000 he has concentrated on his professional practice at M.S. Satsangi & Associates and has successfully completed several Institutional, Residential, Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, and Religious projects. Ongoing since 2005, the 64-acre Sharda University Campus, Greater Noida is one of his biggest and most prestigious project.
He is a member of the council of Architecture & Fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects and has been on the panel of several Design Schools as Thesis Guide and Examiner Adviser for Academic and Infrastructural Development and has been accoladed as the "LIVING LEGEND" by IIA Northern Chapter for contributing heavily in the field of Architecture.
